Manchester United executive vice-chairman has revealed that the club are eyeing more signings for the summer transfer window. The Red Devils have already landed the signatures of Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James this summer but there could be more additions to the squad, who can stay put with the club for the long-term.
United had a forgettable 2017/18 campaign where they finished sixth on the Premier League table and that has meant that they would be plying their trade in the Europa League. Despite this, there have been a number of players attracted to join the club due to the stature and history, but the board seem more selective in terms of landing the targets.
As of now, there has been a keen emphasis on pursuing young British talents and the trend could continue with the potential capture of Sean Longstaff from Newcastle United next month. Nonetheless, the Mancunian giants are also looking into overseas talents, who can likewise have a long-term future with the club and Sporting’s Bruno Fernandes has recently emerged as the prime target.
The Portuguese had a stellar 2018/19 campaign where he contributed 32 goals and a further 18 assists from the heart of the midfield and that creativity has certainly caught the eye of the Red Devils. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are deemed to be confident of landing Fernandes with Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool bowing out of the race for the midfielder.
