Arsenal manager Unai Emery has said that the players must revive their confidence ahead of the Premier League trip to Leicester City this weekend. The north London side have stumbled in the race for the top four with three losses in the previous four games but they are still just one point behind fourth-placed Chelsea.

Speaking in a press conference, Emery said that the team must not ponder over previous results and the focus should lie on getting the much-needed win against the Foxes on the road, he said: “The first idea for us is to recover our confidence. Each minute, hour, day and week we are working and training for a big performance to take the three points. We lost the last two matches but our focus has to be on the present, next Sunday.

“If we think negative after the last two matches, we can think positive before Watford and Napoli. Each match is a new history, each match is a new test. Being positive and recovering our confidence in our players, in our work, we need this to be ready for the next match. I only want to speak about the next match and prepare to work for that.”

The Gunners have gone through another difficult campaign on their travels and they have won just one of their away league matches since the turn of the year. That statistic does not present much confidence ahead of the forthcoming trip to Leicester City, but the players need to show the mental strength to overcome the dreadful away run.

At the present moment, the Gunners are dependent on Chelsea dropping points to reach the fourth spot on the table and the same could happen at the weekend where the Blues have a tricky encounter at Manchester United. The Blues are winless in the past five trips to Old Trafford and the Gunners could put the pressure on them by winning their early league kick-off against the Foxes.
