Jurgen Klopp was able to rest key first team players like Virgil Van Dijk, Fabinho and Trent Alexander Arnold for the FC Porto game which ended in a 2-0 win for his team courtesy the goals from Mohamed Salah and Thiago Alcantara. Ex-Bayern Munich and Barcelona man Thiago was able to notch his first goal for the Reds during the Porto game having joined them in a £20m deal last summer. Liverpool signed Thiago from German champions Bayern Munich at the start of last season as he was reluctant to sign a new deal with one year left on the existing one.

Robertson and Milner returned to the Liverpool squad for the Porto game after their recent absence to provide Jurgen Klopp with a massive boost ahead of a busy run of games in the Premier League. Scotland national team skipper Robertson sustained an hamstring injury during the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier with Denmark last week and it forced him to miss the big league win over Arsenal on Saturday. The Scotsman made his return in the second half of the Porto game.

On his part, midfielder Milner has been missing in recent weeks due to a hamstring problem. The retired England international had been absent from the Liverpool squad before this month’s international break. Milner was subbed on for the final twelve (13) minutes of the Porto game.
