Northern Ireland international defender Jamal Lewis might have played his last game for Newcastle United after he failed to make the cut for the revised Premier League squad at the Northeast club. Newcastle United confirmed their Premier League squad for the remainder of the season last week and Lewis was an obvious omission. He was not part of the 25-man squad for the rest of this season’s Premier League campaign.

It is safe to say that things have not gone the way Lewis expected when he left Norwich City to sign for Newcastle United as a promising fullback at the start of last season. He started last season as the first choice left-back before his spot was taken by Matt Ritchie. He has played five times for the Magpies in the Premier League this season and six times in all competitions. It’s not a surprise that Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe has opted for Matt Targett, Javier Manquillo and Matt Ritchie ahead of Jamal Lewis. New signing Targett signed for the club from fellow English top flight team Aston Villa on loan on the final day of the winter transfer window last month and he has taken the place of Lewis in the latest 25-man squad.
